FAQ

  • What can I expect on my first visit?

Welcome to Mt. Vernon Church! We’re thrilled to have you here!

When you arrive, please follow the signs to the Kids check-in areas. Both areas are located in our Family Center. If you need assistance, we have our Guest Services team right when you walk in the door and they’ll be happy to help you.

For the safety of all our children, we use a secure check-in system. If your child has any special needs or allergies, please inform our volunteers at check-in. We’re committed to creating a safe and accommodating environment for everyone!

During programming, your kids will enjoy engaging lessons about the gospel in a way that’s easy to understand. They’ll participate in group worship, activities that connect to the lesson—all in a fun and safe atmosphere!

  • How do I check my child in on Sundays

We’ll have signs pointing you to the check-in area where one of our Kids volunteers will be available to help. Because of our commitment to safety, every child will need to be checked in and out using our check-in system. If it’s your first visit, we’ll ask for a bit of family information—your full name, your child’s full name, their birthday, your contact information, and any special instructions or allergy information. Once your child has been checked in, you’ll receive corresponding parent and child stickers which will be used to pick your child up after the worship service has ended.

  • How do you prioritize safety?

We recognize that God has entrusted us with the safety of kids while they’re in our care, and we prioritize their well-being. Each Kids environment is supervised by multiple volunteers who have undergone an extensive onboarding process that includes an application, in-person interview, background check, and policy training. All of our Kids areas are secure. Only parents and approved volunteers are allowed back in the children’s hallways. We also members of our Security Team in or around all Kids environments.

  • My Child has special needs. Will they feel included?

We want our Kids Ministry to reflect the truth of Scripture that there should be no distinction in the body of Christ. As such, our ministry strives to provide an inclusive, gospel-centered environment for children who face unique challenges related to their physical, mental, behavioral, medical, or emotional needs. If you have a child with special needs or would like more information, please reach out to one of our Kids Directors.
